Reading Log #2

It is possible that the authors wrote this novel as a type of social commentary. The character’s development has focused aesthetically instead of internally. This leaves the reader wondering if the character’s themselves are what’s important or if the characters are simply meant to represent something. The characters are used as a type of cliche; examples for the themes of love and lust. If the author had given more personality to each character, it would be possible this Novel was written in good fun. However, the lack of character behind each individual leads the reader to wonder if the person is important at all. More likely, each character represents the themes and cliches focused on in this novel. The authors appeal to probability and plot instead of character furthers the conclusion that the tension of the plot is more important than the vessels they call characters.
