Feature Reflection

Overall, I feel I have learned a lot from this project. I was incredibly nervous for the interview and I may have overprepared. The interview itself was awkward and felt very staged. Later on during this project, the class learned how to properly conduct an interview. As such, I was able to look back and really learn from my mistakes. What made my interview even more of a challenge, was when I went to save the audio and my phone crashed, so I lost everything. As such, I had to use the quotes I had written down during the interview. This brought about the challenge of transcribing my own shorthand and making sure the quotes I had written down were correct.  My original draft was very rough, I was missing a lot of information, and my quotes were on the thinner side. When my piece was workshopped, I realized my concept was solid, but my writing was not. My peers told me they wanted more quotes and more information.  Thankfully, I think my peers did enjoy reading my piece and many said it was an interesting concept. In fact, one of my classmates took the article’s advice and visited one of my recommended locations. After peer review, I went back and bulked up all of my paragraphs, reworded vague sentences, and tried to improve the flow between my paragraphs. Unfortunately, I never got another interview and couldn’t bulk up my quotes. By the ‘final’ draft of my piece, I felt satisfied with my progress but not with my result. It wasn’t that I didn’t like what I had done, I just wanted to do more (which is a problem I have with all of my writing). After all of my large edits, I missed a lot of my small detail work, such as spelling, punctuation, and grammar. I have since downloaded Grammarly and I hope to never miss mistakes like that again.
