Job Title:

 “Academic Achievement Coordinator ” 

General Job Description:

The Academic Achievement Coordinator is responsible for helping students sustain the necessary level of academic excellence for graduation. This includes support of all facets of academic influences including social, emotional, organizational, extracurricular, or whatever else is deemed necessary for academic success. This job encompasses overseeing the guidance counselors , academic advisors, SASC tutors, as well as other student resources provided through the university. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The AAC is responsible for overseeing all of the student help services, by making sure that the services are up to date, impactful, and accessible. This includes a yearly assessment of the resources at UNE along with their benefits, drawbacks, and possible improvements. The AAC is also responsible for kickstarting new programs, resources, and other educational materials. 

Minor Duties and Responsibilities:

Some of the AAC’s more minor responsibilities include meeting with students to provide guidance in finding necessary resources, holding meetings with the student body to gain insights about where resources are lacking, as well as creating yearly surveys for students in regard to their use of campus resources. The minor duties of this position are put in place to make sure the student body is heard and that academic resources are both available and attractive to college students. The other aspect of this position is student engagement. Many of this jobs major responsibilities remain in the realm of administration, but it is important to note that the minor responsibilities are here to ensure that the AAC is in continued communication with the student body, as well as any individual students who may need assistance. 

Qualifications:

The AAC must have a major or minor in at least one of the following: Communications, Writing, Education, or Business. A friendly demeanor, as well as a kind persoanlitly is necessary for this position, as you will be assisting high anxiety students. As such, at least two years of work within a Highschool or College setting is also required. 

Key Competencies—required and Preferred:

  • – Must be proficient in Word, Google Docs, and WordPress. 
  • – It is preferred that applicants have worked directly with students ages 15-25, however that is not necessary,
  • – Applicants must have a clean record, with no history of misdemeanors or arrests.
  • – It is preferred that applicants are good public speakers and presenters.
