Spring 2024 Internship, Week #1
This week, I completed an article about board game bars, which can be found here: Maine is finally getting on board with games at bars. I really enjoyed working on this article because it was the first story that I pitched to an editor at the Press Herald. At first, the story was going to be given to a more experienced writer, but instead, I was given the opportunity!
I worked 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. last Monday and Thursday, which will be my hours for the remainder of the semester. Last week, I did work an additional hour on Tuesday, ensuring the weekly column I assemble, People on the Move, was ready to be published by early morning Thursday. You can see last week’s publication of POTM here: People on the move (1/25)
Additionally, last week I conducted two interviews for an article I am starting now, which will hopefully be published by the end of next month. Unfortunately, I will not share the topic before publication, so those interested will have to wait to find out more. I will say that I have had the chance to speak with numerous restaurant and resort owners for this piece, all of which have been great networking opportunities for future stories.
