Hey, my name is Emily Hedegard, and I am an English and communications double major with a minor in writing at The University of New England. I am the Co-Editor-in-Chief of UNE’s student paper, The Bolt. Before college, I  wrote as an intern for The Saco Bay News and covered various local events. By choosing diverse subjects to write about, I am always learning or meeting someone new, which is what I love about journalism! Along with writing, I worked as an intern, reference checking for Across The Disciplines from August 2022 to December 2023.

Most recently, I accepted an internship with the Portland Press Herald, allowing me to further immerse myself in journalism culture.

I am a lifelong Mainer and love to spend as much time outside as possible. I enjoy walking local trails, gardening, and practicing yoga in my free time.
