Over the past few weeks, I have continued to create social media content, posters, and banner ads for The Maine Monitor. I also drafted a social media posting schedule for November. Here is some of the content I have made recently: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB9kU-TyMyD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://www.instagram.com/p/DCEnTv6xlT3/?img_index=1

My first quote comes from Seelye’s Mourning Picture: “Who held onto her girlhood until Death stopped For her.” In the painting accompanying the poem, we can see two grieving parents. My first quote shapes the unseen child they were grieving for into a more tangible entity for readers. The second quote I will explore in this QCQ is: “I am Effie, visible and invisible, remembering and remembered,” from Rich’s Mourning Picture. In this quote, the poem is giving the child…

Over the past few weeks, I have made a handful of posts for The Maine Monitor. Here are a few that have been published: The rest of the posts will be for an event in December. I am creating three mock-ups for a poster and three for a website banner.

Generally, I don’t see assessments made about my area of study in the media because, as an English and Communications double major, we often are the ones creating media and thus exclude ourselves from the narrative. That being said, fake news spreading through social media often tends to be associated with professional communications staff. That notion is partly due to the rise in AI usage over the past four years. Many claim that written information likely comes from AI and…

Project One: Something I like about this project is that the student decided to meld history and English with philosophy. It’s easy to be inclined toward doing the least amount of work necessary, so this student deciding to take that extra step stands out. It also demonstrates the interconnected nature of the humanities and provides a well-rounded “cap” to the student’s liberal arts studies, as they state in their essay. One thing I feel they could develop more is how…

Over the last two weeks, I have generated a handful of posts for The Maine Monitor and published them across their social media platforms. Here are some examples: This is a video I created for the pop-up shop. The footage is from the Common Ground Fair: View this post on Instagram I also had the opportunity to get some internship hours while helping out with the hosting of Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink, a documentary screened on…

Recently, I have done quite a few various things for my internship with The Maine Monitor. One of my favorite things was getting to help table at The Common Ground Fair. My role was to pitch our free newsletter to people passing by and collect content for our social media. Here are a few of the pictures I took, including one of myself dressed in Maine Monitor swag: Here’s a social media video that I created with the footage I…

Fall 24 Internship Evidence Week #1

The most memorable works I encountered were 1,000 Pieces of Gold, “The Author to Her Book” by Anne Bradstreet, and multiple poems by Harjo, Whitman, and Hall. A question I still think about comes from a philosophy class I took with Professor Rotondo: “What does it mean to live a good life?” A sample of work I’m most proud of is the poetry artist book I did in Jesse Miller’s poetry class. Despite that book being the work I’m most…
