Free-write Poem #2

Free-write Poem #2

Little sister Her hair curls in ringlets of sun Shining bright from her head  She lights up the home Gaps highlight her sweet smile Like army soldiers late to roll call Missing Incisors leave her with a slur And at night she waits for a fairy to trade tired teeth for money The weight of life stalks behind her But she’s too fast to catch She wins every race And every game Yet as her sun begins to frizz And…

One Minute Podcast

One Minute Podcast

For this assignment students were asked to download a recording app and create a one minute sample podcast. After I dowloaded my app, I began learning how to collect and alter media with the tools available to me. I was able to add music, record, and splice my audio. This assignment helped me learn how to begin creating my college story podcast.

Goal Setting Project; Why it Matters

Goal Setting Project; Why it Matters

The first project I completed for my Lil120 class was my goal setting essay. This project prompted the class to create 2 academic, extracurricular, and personal goals for themselves, one short-term and one long-term. In my project, I wrote one paragraph for each goal (6 paragraphs). Separating and expanding my goals in this format helped…

A Letter Poem

A Letter Poem

Hello world. My day has been good. How is your day going? Would you like to learn more about me? I’m an open book. I am a survivor of the Covid-19 pandemic. We wear masks every day. Standing 6 feet away from each other has become our pastime. Buildings close down. Panic sets in. Everyday more people have caught the disease. What has become of our world? Is there a cure yet? Have the schools reopened? I missed my senior…

Self Sabotage Not to romanticize  But it’s hard to appreciate the love behind someone’s eyes When all you’ve seen is hate What am i supposed to do  When loving feels wrong But being hurt feels so right Slip into my comforts  Hide in my own shadows  The sun scares me Manipulation is my mundane  And kindness is my kryptonite  How am I supposed to be loved When I only seem to love hate And only seem to hate love

My Bed

My Bed

First the sheet Fitted Tucked Tight My comfort, Comforter  tan from years of routine  Bunches on top of my pristine sheets Layered pillows line half my bed Two body pillows  Black and white Lean against my headboard Memory foam is next Two purple pillows sit side by side  A team Next are aesthetics  White pillows against the purple Hide the colors Hide the comfort Wake myself up Folded at the end of my bed  A black fluff A blanket filled…

Does God Care  for the man  or the woman The rustic harshness of a human life Shadows out of view of his light The sharp inhale of art A cry for help from the hidden The ones whose lives go unseen who carry the burdens God will not embracing the metallic stings of life Only to quickly rust away
