LIL420 Journal#2

I have gained the opportunity to reflect on myself and the various aspects of human existence while studying the humanities. The philosophy classes I have taken are a great example of this. Professionally, I’ve gained quite a lot. Ignoring the numerous soft skills I have developed, I feel my writing has gotten better in a grammatical sense and in the sense that I can better connect with readers on various levels (ethos, pathos, logos). Through my studies, I have become…

I would describe the humanities as studies and practices relating to the human experience, past and present, where the work is done through studying and understanding human interest. It is not black and white and disregards structures such as formulas and binaries. During’s article makes me feel as though I have no idea what the humanities are. To put it bluntly, I found his writing to be inaccessible and pretentious. Even after reading the text multiple times, I took very…

S24 Internship Evidence Week #11

S24 Internship Evidence Week #11

This week, I worked from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. On Monday, I had an article about houseplants published and began wrapping up a handful of articles. This Thursday, I have an interview for what will likely be the last article I write for the Press Herald during this internship. Once I’m done conducting that interview, I can finalize a few more pieces.

Spring 24 Internship Week #10

This week, my editor was kind enough to let me work remotely on Monday so that I could see the solar eclipse with my family. That being said, I still completed POTM and continued working on editing the TikTok I am making for them. This Thursday, I will be interviewing someone for a new article during the afternoon and then returning to the newsroom in the evening. In my free time, I continue to work on some local guides.

S24 Internship Evidence #8

This week I worked in the newsroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. During that time, I put together People on the Move and continued working on one of my guides. On Thursday, I worked remotely and at 3 p.m., went to an on-site location to film some content for the Press Herald’s TikTok.

Spring24 Internship Week #6

This week I worked remotely on Monday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. I worked on assembling People on the Move, editing some of my articles that should be ready to run soon, and working on a guide. Something very cool happened last week after I wrote my evidence post: I was asked to write a brief the following day. I have written short press releases and provided continuously updated breaking news articles but never written…

Spring24 Internship Week #5

This week, I worked from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. I had another issue of People on the Move released, which can be viewed here. I also finished three other articles that I have been in the process of working on. One is about plants, one about covered bridges, and the last is about outdoor dining. Unfortunately, none of those have been published yet, so I cannot cite them as evidence. However, I hope to see…

Spring24 Internship Week #3

This week, I worked from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. I haven’t had any new articles published since last week (with the exception of POTM). Although I can’t detail what I’m working on before I publish it, I will say that I am writing a handful of articles for various newsdesks/editors; two are guides, and four are full articles. As much work as that may sound like, many of the stories are considered low priority, and…
