Internship Work Samples

The Maine Monitor Work Samples:

Link To A “Thanks for Donating” Social Media Post:

This post was a lot of fun to design because I got to work with two slides (typically, for The Monitor, a post is only one image). I used Canva to add texture and gradients to the graphic and added a team picture to create a sense of community with viewers — I am actually in the photo! As one can see, I made sure to include The Monitor’s brand colors, font package, and provided logo.

Link To My Stripped For Parts Video:

This video was part of a marketing package for the showings of Stripped for Parts that were co-hosted by The Maine Monitor. Along with this reel, I created a similar video for Facebook and X. I also designed social media posts for all three platforms, posters, and newsletter banners. Over the entirety of my internship, this is the event I created the most content for.

Portland Press Herald Work Samples:

Link To My Happy Hour Guide:

Our guide to 78 happy hour specials in southern Maine

This was one of the most popular articles I published during my time at the Herald. I had to cold call just under 100 restaurants, which was great practice for cold calling.

Link To My Houseplant Feature:

Indoor gardening hasn’t grown old for millennial and Gen Z houseplant owners

This was the first article I started writing for the Press Herald, and it took months of reworking. I learned so much about how to write trend stories, interview all kinds of people, work with photographers, do and incorporate research, and talk with PR representatives.
