Learning Outcome #5 (MLA)

Learning Outcome #5 (MLA)

Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA).

In the past, I have used MLA format in most of my papers (Times New Roman, size 12, one inch margins, double spaced), along with APA formatting for some of my scientific reports. To cite texts I tend to embed quotes in sentences followed by the authors last name, unless I have already introduced the author before the quote. I prefer to embed quotes as opposed to including block quotes, because I feel it helps the evidence support my ideas instead of letting the evidence stand alone. For my first essay on categories I followed the same MLA and quote formats I have used in the past. I included page numbers, proper font style and size, and correct margin. Unfortunately, I accidentally used a 1.5 spacing instead of a double space for this essay. After making MLA errors on paper #1, I made sure to double check all of my final formatting for papers #2-3. After that first mistake, I had no more major formatting issues.
