My ability to control sentence-level grammar could be improved. Although it is easy for me to find grammatical issues during peer revisions, I tend to be blind to my own grammatical issues. In the past, I have fixed issues like run-on sentences and a lack of apostrophes. One issue I still need to improve upon is my use of colons and semi-colons. I also tend to mix up colons and commas in my sentences, along with not including semi-colons when they’re necessary. One issue that came up in my first essay was my use of commas. Even in the final draft, I can look back and find at least three examples where I kept forgetting to use commas in my sentences. After writing paper two I was also able to look back and find a few grammatical errors within my writing. In my first paper I forgot to include commas in many of my sentences, however, in the second paper I wrote there are many sentences with unnecessary commas. By my third and final paper, I had given up hope of ever fixing my errors due to the amount of errors I still had. I ended up downloading Grammarly and I haven’t have a punctuation problem since. The program has actually helped me learn when and where to use specific punctuation, and has helped me improve my overall knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
