My Description: When you read a text, take time to really understand it and consider how its themes connect to the bigger ideas it might be getting at (like social issues, ethical questions, or deeper meanings). Understand the book on a literal and figurative level. Pay attention to how the author gets their point across, whether it’s through the language that they use or through the story’s structure, and know how to connect sections of the text to the overall message or theme.

My Description: Be able to conduct research in literary and cultural studies. When done correctly, that involves working ethically and using bibliographic tools to find relevant sources. It requires critical analysis of texts and active engagement in scholarly conversations about literary and cultural topics. Additionally, it’s important to incorporate and properly cite source material following MLA style guidelines.
